Getting Ready to Cruise with Carnival

I LOVE Cruising!

My husband loves it too, but he doesn't quite grasp why I so staunchly refuse to give up cruising for other options.

As the vacation planner (life planner, menu planner, day planner) for our vacation group, I spend a lot of time and energy making sure I have worked through every possible option for our trips. Where will we stay? Where will we eat? What will we do? And once we get to our vacation spot, the decisions and scenarios Do...Not...Stop. How do we get from point A to point B? How long will it take? Can everyone PLEASE GET IN THE CAR NOW? Do you want steak or seafood? What restaurant serves something that everyone will like? Where can we stop to use the restroom? Does everyone have their (fill in the blank)?

While there is a lot of planning that goes into taking a cruise, I relish the idea of getting on the cruise ship and only having to figure out A) where my room is after 2 cocktails? and B) do I want ice cream on this 3rd trip past the ice cream machine?

Here are the three cruises we have taken so far as a couple:

Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas (Key West, Cozumel, and Belize) Honeymoon 2007 (Picture: In a Mayan Cave in Belize...it was HUMID)

In a Mayan Cave in Belize

Carnival Liberty (Cozumel, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman) with Friends 2011 (Embarkation Photo: Note...Cruising on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 was maybe not the best decision we have made...or maybe it was...we actually felt super safe...we were escorted from port by the Coast Guard and Miami Dade Police and our ship had armed guards with signs that warned other ships to stay away while we were in international ports)

Carnival Valor (Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Barbados) with my Parents 2013 (Photo: In St. Maarten...Capt. Obvious)

We have been to A LOT of the common ports of call in the Caribbean, so choosing a cruise is getting difficult, because we always love to see something new on vacation.

Right now, we are looking at a Carnival Cruise that goes to the Eastern Caribbean for September where we will revisit one of our favorite ports of call, Puerto Rico, and a port we did not get to spend time in, St. Thomas, and see 2 new places, Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay.

I believe there are 6 steps to planning a Caribbean Cruise

1. Pick the cruise

2. Decide on a date

3. Plan travel to and from the port

4. Choose shore excursions

5. Make packing list and pre-cruise to do list

6. Add some extra Fun

Come with me for the next six weeks while I walk you through planning our 2017 cruise!
