We started the Whole30 program 12 days ago today and I wanted to share my experience with the first 10 days.
Friday: Day 1
We were so hungry!!!! I found myself a little snappier than normal.
Saturday: Day 2
Still starving, so we went to Whole Foods to pick up some cashew butter to use with apples and some nuts to use when we needed a quick snack.
Sunday: Day 3
Things were a little easier but I still found myself cranky.
Monday: Day 4
I realized I was sleeping so much better, but I was still cranky.
Tuesday: Day 5
My first meal out was breakfast with some friends. The restaurant was perfect to dip my toes into the world of eating out. However, I started getting really nauseated after lunch and though I powered though, I felt crappy all night. I did discover the joys of coconut oil and the chicken I made was awesome.
Wednesday: Day 6
I wasn't feeling sick anymore, but had zero appetite. I continued eating though, because the forums suggested that would help.
Thursday: Day 7
No issues and nothing remarkable about the day, except I noted that I wasn't craving sugar anymore.
Friday: Day 8
Again nothing remarkable. I was still sleeping like a log.
Saturday: Day 9
We ventured to the movies. We bought a water to share and I almost attacked a woman with popcorn next to me. I equally wanted to eat the popcorn and throw it across the theater. We made it through without any popcorn attacks.
Sunday: Day 10
We ate out twice on Sunday...kind of. We bought pulled pork for lunch and paired it with home side dishes. For dinner, we picked up 5 Guys burgers and paired those with some green beans.
The only thing that has really bothered me has been the lack of sugar in my coffee, but I am going to try some things this week. I'm going to add coconut cream. If that doesn't do it, I'm going to try making a dirty chai (espresso and chai). If that doesn't work, I'm going to try 100% cocoa powder. If that doesn't work, I'm going to mix and match it all up.
We also started drinking tea after dinner and I am really enjoying it!
At this point, we have started thinking about how to continue eating the Whole30 way after we are done with the program. For me, I want to sweeten my coffee, continue drinking tea at night and be able to go out to eat without putting so much thought into what is "acceptable".
