Thoughts on Celebrity Big Brother

When CBS announced Celebrity Big Brother for the winter season, I had lukewarm feelings about it. On the one hand, it might be interesting to see how celebrities deal with 24/7 cameras. On the other hand, it also meant they would not be doing a second season of Big Brother: Over the Top. Click here for the Wikipedia page on BBOTT.
I'm not a live feeds junkie. I prefer to read the recaps other provide, but I do occasionally turn on the feeds when I'm making dinner or running around the house and just want to hear people talking, but I really enjoyed getting an un-edited version of the competitions, ceremonies and evictions that you get on BBOTT.
A few weeks ago, when they announced a cast of celebrities I had vague or zero ideas of who they were, I was not looking forward to it. I had several conversations about if we would watch it, but to be honest, even though I enjoy the Olympics, I don't enjoy sports all the time, so CBB it was.
About Celebrity Big Brother:
The show premiered 8 days ago and we have seen two celebrities leave (Chuck Lidell then Keisha Knight Pulliam), one celebrity head to the hospital (Omarosa), two celebrities beg to be sent home (Metta WorldPeace and Keisha Knight Pulliam), and one celebrity ostracized (Shannon Elizabeth).
I linked to Wikipedia pages in case you had no idea who these people are either.
Alliances:
Alliances are hard to keep up with in a normal game, but the expedited version of CBB has kept everyone's head on a swivel. First, was the Female + Ross Alliance that was responsible for Chuck being sent home and the beginning of Shannon's downfall. Then there was the Black Girl Magic that tanked when Keisha begged to be sent home because her breastmilk supply was dwindling and she was concerned that her one year old would starve (?). (I'm not a mom, but don't most one year olds need more nutrition than just breast milk? I may not have the entire story on that, but I think everyone was confused about the plea and scared to go against a breast feeding mom's need to go home to her one year old.) While BGM was happening, Shannon, Ross Mathews and Marissa Jaret Winokur teamed up with James Maslow somehow and made a final four deal, which lasted something like 22 hours before Ross drug Marissa over to team up with Ariadna Gutierrez, Brandi Glanville and Omarosa claiming that Shannon was playing the game too hard and they needed to evict her before she won the entire thing. I think Ross is trying to turn attention away from how hard he is playing the game and I'm just waiting for all of this to blow up in his face...I hope it does. That will be some good TV.
Metta WorldPeace:
Metta obviously just needed a paycheck. He has no idea what is going on, which like Kevin from last season, is actually pretty entertaining to watch. I'm pretty sure he is only house guest to mess up his vote like that. (He voted for Chuck and then left the diary room. He thought he was supposed to vote for who he wanted to stay in the house.) Sorry Chuck! Glad he wasn't the deciding vote!
Biggest Surprise:
I think the biggest surprise to me was how Ross dominated Bowlerina (until James threw the comp to him), a move I am guessing he is regretting at this point.
Am I going to continue watching?
Yeah. I'm hooked at this point and can't wait to see how it pans out. I'm hoping everyone comes to their senses and kicks out Omarosa this week, but she is good for TV.
Do I want another season?
To be determined. Hopefully, if they do a second season, they can fill the house with a little better known names, but I am thankful to NOT see a handful of stars that I assumed would be in the house.
