3 Tips for a Great First Night in Las Vegas

Our first trip to Las Vegas was just after Labor Day a few years ago. Here's a free tip...it was really hot. Since then, I have been back three times, and my husband has been back several more times for conferences.
While most of these trips were focused on spending time with friends out there, we do try to act like tourists the day we arrive. After four trips, I think I have some great ideas to help make your first night great.
Tip #1: Arrive in the late evening.
We have arrived at all times of the day and the least stressful time was our past trip. We took a direct flight from Nashville on Southwest and arrived at 8:30 local time. The airport was quiet, the taxi and shuttle lines were not crowded, and it was not stifling hot. We were also able to get a good nap in on the flight, which helped us be ready to go when we arrived.
Tip #2: Get a meal.
This is especially important for those of us from the eastern part of the country. When we took our 6:30 flight and arrived at 8:30 local time, it was really 10:30 at home. Since we had our dinner at 5:00 in Nashville, we were starting to get a little hungry and a little tired. After our meal, we were ready to go!
Tip #3: Drink a lot of water!
If you aren't used to being in the desert, this is especially important. Even when its not especially hot, the air is dry and you can dehydrate quickly. If you are also drinking alcohol that will add to your dehydration, so drink all the water! We usually swing by a Walgreens and pick up a 12 pack of water to keep in our hotel room so it is readily available.
I hope these tips will help you to plan a great first night in Las Vegas!
